MEET THE TEAM
Brian Gennaco
Founder
Oysters are a passion for Brian. With a degree in Marine Biology and Environmental Science from the University of Maine, he has spent over ten years in marine aquaculture. This experience has not only helped Brian develop the perfect oyster, but also build much of their equipment with his own two hands.

Sarah Gennaco
Founder
Sarah began her journey as a stained glass artist and later found a creative outlet in X-ray technology. In her free time, you can find Sarah on the farm harvesting oysters with Brian or sketching landscapes of the bay. She loves being out on the water and sharing their oysters with friends, family and neighbors. Check out Sarah's favorite grilled oyster recipe here.
kristen mello-RAFTER
Farm Manager
Kristen earned a degree in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire before working at the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping as a research SCUBA diver for 8 years. Her love of being out on the water, as well as her passion for all things aquaculture, brought her to Virgin Oyster Company. Kristen is the first one on the bay every day and the last to leave. In addition to her normal duties she makes sure to show up Brian whenever possible!
Cousteau
Farm Support
Meet the dog who really runs the show! Making sure everyone on board is in good spirits and safe, Cousteau also gives his paw of approval to all oysters farmed.
OUR STORY
Brian and Sarah Gennaco live just a couple of miles up the road from Little Bay with their daughter Isabella and dog Cousteau. They have found a balance preserving the health of the bay while cultivating these delicious shellfish, which has been a dream of Brian’s for many years. With a degree in Marine Biology and Environmental Science from the University of Maine, Brian has spent over ten years in marine aquaculture.
